今年のバレンタインは、日本で過ごしました。
なんと夫の希望は、清水エスパルス の試合を見に行くこと。2月14日に試合があることを、
ちゃんと事前に調べていたようです。

私はそこまで乗り気ではなかったのですが、夫がとても行きたがっていたので、
「じゃあ行こうか」ということになりました。

一般販売のチケットは2月8日から。よくわからなかったので、メインスタンドの少し右側の席を選びました。対戦相手は 京都サンガF.C.。試合は午後2時キックオフです。

当日は、自転車で IAIスタジアム日本平 の近くまで行き、そこから徒歩で向かいました。
実家を出たのは12時半ごろだったと思います。

日本平の麓に近づくにつれて、夫のようにエスパルスのユニフォームを着た人たちが、スタジアムに向かって歩いていきます。その様子は、まるで元旦の初詣に向かう人たちのようでした。

スタジアムに入る前に腹ごしらえ。いろいろな出店が出ていましたが、すでに売り切れているメニューも多く、「もう少し早く出ていればよかったかな」と少し後悔。

ランチの後、いざスタジアムへ。
ゲートでは「熱狂開幕ブランケット」をゲット。こういう記念品って、ちょっとうれしいですよね。

試合が始まると、私たちの席はエスパルスの応援団よりも、どちらかというとサンガの応援団に近い位置でした。そのせいかもしれませんが、人数は少ないにもかかわらず、サンガの応援がとても力強くて、思わず感心してしまいました。

もちろん、エスパルスの応援も素晴らしく、ゴール裏のスタンドはすべてオレンジに染まり、圧倒的な迫力がありました。

そんなこんなで、思っていた以上に試合に引き込まれ、とても楽しむことができました。結果はPKでの敗戦でしたが、それでも印象に残る一日になりました。

こういうバレンタインの過ごし方も、いいものだなと思います。

This year, we spent Valentine’s Day in Japan.
My husband’s request was a bit unexpected — he wanted to go see a Shimizu S-Pulse match. He had already checked that there was a game on February 14.

I wasn’t particularly excited at first, but he really wanted to go, so I thought, why not.

Tickets for the general public went on sale on February 8. Since I wasn’t very familiar with the seating, I chose seats slightly to the right side of the main stand. The opponent was Kyoto Sanga F.C., and the match started at 2:00 PM.

On the day, we biked to near IAI Stadium Nihondaira and walked the rest of the way. We left my parents’ house around 12:30.

As we got closer to Nihondaira, we started to see more and more people wearing S-Pulse uniforms, all walking toward the stadium. It somehow reminded me of people heading to a shrine on New Year’s Day.

Before entering the stadium, we grabbed some food. There were many food stalls, but quite a few items were already sold out. I thought we should have left a bit earlier.

After lunch, we finally went inside.
At the gate, we received a “Opening Day Blanket,” which was a nice little surprise.

Once the match started, I realized our seats were actually closer to the Kyoto supporters than the S-Pulse cheering section. Maybe because of that, I was quite impressed by Kyoto’s supporters — even though they were fewer in number, their energy was strong and very organized.

Of course, the S-Pulse supporters were also amazing. The entire goal-end stand was filled with orange, and the atmosphere was powerful.

Before I knew it, I was much more into the game than I had expected.
In the end, S-Pulse lost on penalties.

Still, it turned out to be a memorable day.
I think this kind of Valentine’s Day is actually quite nice.
