2月25日に、義母のテレッサが８１歳で亡くなりました。
10人だけのお葬式
当時、プリンスエドワード島では、
冠婚葬祭等の集まりは、１０人までという、規制がありました。
3月6日（土）に、お葬式をするという方向でいたのですが、
１０人の場合：
長男（夫）と、その妻（私）
長女と、その夫
妹と、その夫
弟、というメンバーでいこうという話でした。
こんな規制がなければ、盛大に個人をしのぶのですが、
規制がなくなってから（秋以降ーるzという噂）改めて、
家族、友人で集まろう、ということになりました。
50人のお葬式
ところが、3月4日（木）に、冠婚葬祭の規制が５０人までと緩和されました。
緩和のニュースも、視野に入れていたので、
とりあえず、５０人のリストも考えてありましたが、
お世話になったすべての人を招待できなかったのが、残念です。
家族や親戚を、まず招待するので、
近所の人、知人で、実際に看護に貢献してくれた人、
または、貢献を申し出てくれた人を、すべて招待することができませんでした。
お葬式当日
コロナ禍でなければ、教会までの道のりを、霊柩車を先頭に、家族の車が続き、
ゆっくりと、パレードするはずでした。
コロナ禍である今は、各自が、教会へ集合するというスタイルでした。
葬式は、午後の１時に始まりました。
テレッサが亡くなったときは、とても痩せて小さくなってしまっていたのに、
棺桶がとても大きく見えたのが、印象的でした。
聖書から
私は、テレッサのお葬式でも、ビル（テレッサの夫）の時と同じ、
伝道者の書（Book of Ecclesiastes）３章を読みました。
For everything there is a season,
and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time throw away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.
What gain have the workers from their toil?
I have seen the business that God has given to everyone to be busy with.
He has made everything suitable for its time.
