手にっとった理由
先週、Mission Mart のショーケースに並んでいたこのラピスラズリのネックレスに気づきました。値段は $39.99 と、スリフトショップにしては少し高め。でも気になって、スタッフの方にお願いして手に取って見させてもらいました。その深い青色がずっと頭に残っていて、今日また店に行ったら、まだそこにありました。一週間ずっと考えていたので、「これは買うべきだ」と思い、家に連れて帰ることにしました。
ちょっとした掘り出し物
ネックレスはラピスラズリのビーズと、ヴィンテージ風の銀細工のクラスプが特徴です。ラピスならではの深いロイヤルブルーがとても美しく、見ているだけで気持ちが落ち着きます。中世の絵画に使われたウルトラマリンの原料がラピスだったという話も好きです。また、ラピスには「魔除け」や「真実を見抜く力」があると言われたりして、そんな folklore も可愛いポイントです。
高級ジュエリーというわけではありませんが、素朴な美しさと静かな存在感があります。丁寧に作られたヴィンテージの一点物のような雰囲気が気に入っています。

Why I Picked It Up
I first noticed this lapis lazuli necklace at Mission Mart last week. It was displayed in their special case and priced at $39.99, which is a bit high for a thrift shop item. Still, I asked to hold it and looked at it closely. The deep blue beads stayed in my mind all week, and today when I visited the store again, I found it still there. Since I had kept thinking about it, I decided to finally bring it home.
A Nice Little Find
This is a lapis lazuli bead necklace with a vintage-style silver filigree clasp. The colour is a rich royal blue — the kind of blue that made lapis so famous in history. I’ve always liked the story that lapis was used to create the ultramarine pigment in medieval paintings. People also say it has protective or “magical” qualities, which adds a bit of charm even if it’s just folklore.
Although it isn’t a high-end luxury item, it has a quiet elegance. The simple round beads, the filigree clasp, and the vivid colour make it feel like a thoughtful, handmade vintage piece.
