Moonchild Tarot に興味を持ったきっかけは、
そのカードストックでした。
やわらかな光沢のあるマットな質感で、
手触りはなめらかですが、べたつきはないという評価。
Oak, Ash & Thorn Tarot (OAT) は、
自分への最初のクリスマスプレゼントとして迎えました。
Moonchild のデッキは、
自分への二つ目のクリスマスプレゼントです🙂。
サイズは OAT より少し大きめです。
実際にカードに触れてみると、
OAT よりも少しなめらかに感じましたが、
シャッフルはとてもスムーズです。
このデッキとも、
少しずつ親しくなっていけたらと思っています。
今日は、この新しいデッキで最初に引いた
ウェルカムカードについて書いてみたいと思います。

デッキ：Moonchild Tarot
ウェルカムカード：運命の輪
絵柄
カードの中央には門があり、その上には運命の輪が載っています。
門の左右には、それぞれ4体ずつ、合計8体の存在が配置されています。スフィンクス、女神、羊、そしてハヤブサ（あるいは鷲）。左右対称に並んでいますが、色合いは微妙に異なり、特に右側のスフィンクスと鳥は左側よりも暗く描かれています。完全な対称ではなく、差異があることが印象的です。
門の背後には、太陽と月が重なり合うように描かれています。昼と夜、光と影が同じ場所に共存しているようです。
また、門の両脇には白い芍薬（ピオニー）が静かに咲いています。
門の向こう側には、岩だらけの風景が広がっています。それは雪にも砂にも見え、どちらなのかははっきりしません。行き先は、まだ定まっていないようにも感じられます。
解釈
このカードは、人生における「繰り返しのテーマ」を示しているように感じます。
私たちは、人生が一方向に進んでいるように感じがちですが、実際にはもっと多層的で、円を描くような動きをしているのかもしれません。同じような場面や感情を、別の視点から再び訪れることもあります。
大切なのは、それをどう感じるか。
それを心地よいと感じるのか、それとも違和感を覚えるのか。もし後者なら、次の門をくぐる前に、立ち止まって今の自分の立ち位置を見直す機会なのかもしれません。
過去を断ち切るために門をくぐるのではなく、気づきを携えて進むために。
運命の輪は、こう語りかけているようです。
「あなたが生きている流れやパターンに、気づく手助けをしよう」と。
I’ve been interested in the Moonchild Tarot mainly because of its cardstock —
a luxurious matte finish with a soft sheen, smooth to the touch but not sticky.
I already received the Oak, Ash & Thorn (OAT) Tarot as my first Christmas gift to myself.
The Moonchild deck is my second Christmas gift to myself 🙂
It’s larger than the OAT deck.
When I first touched the cards, I noticed that they feel slightly smoother than OAT,
but they still shuffle very well.
I’m hoping to become familiar with this deck little by little.

Welcome Card: Wheel of Fortune
Imagery
At the center of the card stands a gate, crowned by the Wheel of Fortune itself.
On both the left and right sides of the gate are four figures—eight in total—appearing as creatures or gods and goddesses: a sphinx, a goddess, a sheep, and a falcon or eagle. They are arranged symmetrically, yet their colours differ subtly. In particular, the sphinx and the eagle on the right side appear darker than those on the left, suggesting contrast rather than perfect balance.
Behind the gate, the sun and the moon overlap, sharing the same space. Their coexistence feels intentional, as if day and night, clarity and mystery, are meant to be held together rather than separated. Beside each side of the gate blooms a white peony, calm and quietly luminous.
Beyond the gate lies a rocky landscape that could be snow or sand. It is not entirely clear which—perhaps intentionally—leaving the destination open to interpretation.
Interpretation
This card speaks of recurring themes in our lives. Even when it feels as though life is moving in a single direction, our experience may be far more multidimensional. Like a wheel, we may pass through similar moments again, returning to familiar places from a different height or perspective.
The question is not whether the cycle repeats, but how we feel when it does. Do we welcome it, or resist it? If something feels uncomfortable, this moment offers a chance to pause and reevaluate where we are before stepping forward again.
Passing through the gate does not mean escaping the past—it means becoming aware of it. The Wheel of Fortune seems to say: I can help you recognize the patterns you are living within. With that awareness, the next journey begins not blindly, but consciously.
